The Medina

Medina means "city" in Arabic, in Morocco the medina refers to the area within the walls of the old city. The medina of Marrakech is where the main tourist attractions are located. The medina consists of numerous riads, shops, restaurants and bars, museums and workshops. You will find many monuments such as the Bahia palace, the Koutoubia mosque and the famous Jemaa el-Fna square.

By renting a riad inside the medina of Marrakech you will be in the heart of the dynamic red city, moreover cars are forbidden so you can easily walk through the labyrinthine maze of streets and discover all the secrets of the medina.

The Hivernage district and Gueliz

The districts of L'Hivernage and Gueliz, located close to the medina, are very popular for those who wish to be close to activities without being in the heart of the medina. It is in these neighbourhoods that you will find the majority of the city's nightlife. In Hivernage you will find a casino and many restaurants.

If you are looking for a refined and luxurious area within walking distance of Marrakech's main attractions, these two districts are the ideal place for your holiday. They are also well served by transport links to the area.

La Palmeraie

A little further from the centre of Marrakech, the Palmeraie is an incredible oasis along the Tensift River. The Palmeraie is home to many seaside resorts and a few golf courses. The villas in this area are very luxurious and usually have large, lush gardens.
