Argan oil, a magical oil from Morocco

Morocco is known for its expertise in all areas, from architecture to gastronomy and textile craftsmanship, the country has had a rich and qualified workforce for years. When you visit Morocco, you will be amazed by the traditional way of life and the way raw materials are transformed to create wonderful products such as argan oil. This magical and natural oil is full of virtues, a real jewel. Villanovo enlightens you about a special oil, the argan oil.

Argan oil, what is it?

Argan oil, what is it?

This miraculous oil comes from the argan tree, a tree endemic to Morocco and Algeria, that is to say a tree that grows naturally only in these two countries. You can find two types of argan oil, the type with the almonds roasted or not, and the technique is very special and remains a traditional know-how where the women grind the nuts by hand with a small wooden pestle until the almonds lose their oil. Argan oil is used as an edible oil which is thicker than that used for cosmetic purposes.

In Morocco, argan oil is used in cooking and is seen as a precious culinary oil with unique properties. Indeed, the oil helps to stabilize hypercholesterolemia (a high level of cholesterol), stimulates the liver and brain cells, and promotes the protection of connective tissue. Contrary to France, where a litre of argan oil is sold between 70 and 200 €, it is sold between 18 and 25 € per litre in its country of origin, enough to convince you to bring some back from your stay in Morocco

Cosmetic uses

In addition to having qualities when used as a culinary food, argan oil also has incredible benefits when used for cosmetic purposes. This "magic" oil can solve skin problems that you can't treat with simple creams thanks to its rich concentration of vitamin E and antioxidants, ideal for moisturizing any area of your body from your hair to your face to your nails! Argan oil is an excellent alternative if you want to stop consuming products created in a laboratory or containing ingredients with unpronounceable names. Argan oil can solve problems of eczema, skin dehydration and much more. The oil became a fashionable product in the 2000s and since then, many products claim to contain argan oil, but are actually counterfeit, so you should take advantage of a stay in Morocco to stock up on oil!
